NHAP DAO AREA

You are standing in the space of the Inner Temple area called the Nhap Dao area, meaning “first starting a studious journey” with the educational motto of "first learn manners, then learn literature". The learning and training journey of each Confucian student does not begin with the first stroke of calligraphy under the guidance of a teacher, but instead with the teaching of their parents on proper behaviors and mannerism. The traditions of fondness for learning and overcoming difficulties are formed first within the family.

The four Vietnamese words of "Quintessence of Education", displayed on the main road leading to Dai Trung gate, are the main theme of this Night tour. On both sides of Dai Trung gate are two smaller gates called Thanh Duc (meaning virtuous) and Dat Tai (meaning talented), which are also the two qualities that each Confucian student needs to achieve on the path of training to acquire both virtue and talent.
