OPENING CEREMONY OF THE CALLIGRAPHY EXHIBITION "FRAGRANCE AND COLOR OF THĂNG LONG" AT VĂN MIẾU - QUỐC TỬ GIÁM

The opening ceremony of the Thăng Long - Hanoi Calligraphy Exhibition themed "Fragrance and Color of Thăng Long." was held at Thái Học courtyard, Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám. The exhibition aims to honor the beauty of the land and people of Thăng Long - Hanoi, highlighting the unique cultural values of the thousand-year-old capital through the art of calligraphy.

The exhibition showcases 36 calligraphy works of 100 selected pieces from over 200 written submissions. The displayed works possess artistic value and a classical essence, reaffirming that the classical criteria of calligraphy will always remain the backbone and lifeblood, serving as the fundamental foundation of traditional calligraphy. Most of the pieces are written in traditional styles, including the chữ Triện, Lệ, Chân, Hành, and Thảo scripts; alongside these, some works feature innovative and groundbreaking expressions in lettering and layout.

The exhibition has also allocated a section for installation art featuring 365 notebooks containing excerpts from the "Khuyến học văn" (Essay on Promoting Education) by King Lê Thánh Tông, a significant figure in Vietnam'sVietnam's medieval literature.

This exhibition provides an opportunity and a platform to connect calligraphy authors. The "Fragrance and Color of Thăng Long" exhibition will gradually enhance the level of calligraphy and appreciation for calligraphic values, inspiring those who love calligraphy in the future.

The exhibition will run until December 3, 2024, at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám heritage site.
